Hi, I've been asked for us to charge a certain percentage to customers to compensate for credit card fees.

I'm customizing the credit card payment flow to add an item for a certain percentage to the cart, if it doesn't already exist, and then processing the payment.

It'd be nice of AC would support this natively, with a customized fee structure, based on the payment gateway.

I agree, the legalities are murky.

I've relayed that info to the decision makers already.

As long as the customer is aware upfront of what he is being charged for, this will not be an issue. Unlike handling charges that can be hidden within shipping charges, this line item cannot be hidden.
