I am new and installed iis and asp.net for windows 10. I copied the website directory to my root of my site's drive. However, when I put connect my site to browser I am getting 500 error. Have no idea why or where to look.

To start with, in order to see what the error is (maybe!), you need to edit the web.config at the root of the site.
Change
<customErrors mode="On"
t0
<customErrors mode="Off"

Change
<compilation debug="false"
to
<compilation debug="true"

Hi,

The 500 error could mean that permissions are not available to the IIS application pool.

Please see this article:

You'll need add permissions for:

IUSR (default IIS user)
IIS AppPool\<myappoolname>

Ok, I got it to install now though getting 404 error entering the Admin area.

No, I havent getting 500 error. Everything else installed correctly. I am guessing need to check permissions.
