I would love to see a product location field added to the product database, this information will print on the picklist. An example, we have radios where the SKU's are extremely similar, and the items look the same, however there is a difference of $80 in the cost of sales between the items.

Having the specific item location would eliminate confusion, the field would be a text field and can look something like this: RR-R2-S1.

This would stand for "Rear Room, Rack #2, Shelf #1", of course anyone can manipulate this for their own purpose, but having this information on the picklist report can eliminate a lot of issues for a lot of people.

Just an idea.

If you want to make a customization then it can be achieved easily. Product API has the ability to attach custom fields which can be accessed using product.CustomFields property. You can set and read a custom field easily without needing to make any database or backend code updates. All you would need is to add a textbox at desired location, pass the text value into controller save it into product.CustomFields and then read it back and put into textbox.
