Has anyone tried running Ablecommerce on kestrel?

What is the official guidance from tech support trying to run Ablecommerce on kestrel?

Many thanks

This is an interesting question, Kestrel is built primely for ASP.NET CORE applications. We haven't looked into running a MVC5 application into it or even if its possible to run MVC5 in it at all.

If we look at the following article in Microsoft's documentation .NET Standard, .NET 4.6.2 seem to follow at least NET Standard 2. If Kestrel has a nuget package targeting similar NET Standard then theoretically there is a compatibility but I see people struggling with MVC5 and NET Standards in my quick searches on stack overflow. I think running a MVC5 application in kestrel wouldn't be a straightforward job, if its not impossible.

Mazhar,

I appreciate your reply, I am pretty sure that they'll be better support down the road for newer MVC applications, since MVC is not proprietary to Microsoft.

Purpose of the question was, I am tired of other people telling me how insecure the Windows operating system is compared to UNIX, if one day newer .NET MVC applications were to run under Kestrel, regardless of the operating system, this could open the doors for many users.

Again, I appreciate your reply.
