I'm planning to create a custom events implementation following the same pattern that AC is using. I plan on adding:
  • OrderItemCreated (To handle new items after initial order creation)
  • OrderItemUpdated (To handle changes to order items)
  • OrderItemDeleted (To handle removal of order items)
  • ShipmentSplit (To handle when on shipment is split into two)
  • ShipmentMerged (To handle when two shipments are merged into one)
  • ShipmentReturned <= Actually in AC9 events, just not implemented
  • ShipmentReturnedPartial <= Same as above

AC community... Are there any other events missing from the AC9 implementation that you would find useful? They don't have to be related to order item management.

The Eventing system is a good place to generalize specific store events and take action as a result. It exists at a higher level and allows more granular multi-step actions without having to deal with low-level nHibernate entity objects. Especially if certain actions need to send an email, add an order note, trigger a hangfire job etc.

Yeah, I already tried an NHibernate event listener and was able to successfully capture all Create, Update, and Delete operations, but without context of what was happening at a higher level, it wasn't much help.
