Is there a location where I can access an order right after it is placed, before the receipt page, other than in each payment form?
I have tried doing it with a custom event handler in

The site needs to communicate with another web service to send the order at checkout and I am trying to troubleshoot issues that didn't exist with the same customization in AC Gold. One issue we are seeing is multiple orders placed several minutes a part. For one example, 4 orders in a row for the same customer at 3:01,3:21,3:34,3:36. Customer's page views show only the first and fourth one showing a page view entry for the receipt with the order number in the query string. I don't know that my entry in the OrderPlaced is causing this because it seems so far-fetched and no changes are made to the order with my entry.
