Hi,

Why do we get this message "Account data storage or SSL has been disabled." in the Account Details field of the Payments tab (see View Order #xxxxx)?

Thank you

It most likely means you have not enabled credit card number storage Admin/Security/SystemSettings or you don't have SSL enabled on your site.

Credit card number storage and SSL (certificate installed) are (were) always enabled. We encountered an issue last week due to LV (Las Vegas) incident where all hosting servers were wiped out.

You might need to restore your encryption key.

That's the problem, we haven't found the encryption key to restore it. Is there a workaround?

What about the new orders with a new encryption key, will their account details be available?

There is no work-around if you don't have a backup of the encryption key to restore.

For new orders, the account details should be available with a new encryption key, SSL enabled, and account data storage on.

Did you have a backup of the website site files and database from before the servers were wiped out?

If you did, then you could restore everything to a temp website to get your old order data.

If you are not getting daily backups of your database and site files, you need to talk with your host about that.
Thanks for your support!

We did have a website backup, but the database is probably off by a few orders. For example if we use the backed database.config file (encrypted), we get this error:

Failed to decrypt using provider 'DataProtectionConfigurationProvider'. Error message from the provider: Key not valid for use in specified state. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x8009000B)

Encryption.config file looks like this when website restored:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<ablecommerce>
<encryption />
</ablecommerce>

It looks like the encryption key is missing, that is why the error is showing up?

Yes, sorry....

It does look like you would need your encryption key restored.
Thanks for your support!

Katie, one more question.

Looking at the old website backups, I see that the database.config file is encrypted whereas encryption.config is not (see below, encryption key missing) and I haven't had any problems with viewing the account details before. Is it normal???

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<ablecommerce>
<encryption />
</ablecommerce>
