Is it possible to set the products in a category to show in the order they are structured in the admin?
I just spent an hour rearranging the order of products in a category so that they are in relation to each other. Then when I checked my results on the webpage they were all randomized.

I haven't checked in AC9, but you should be able to show the products in admin order if they are in only one category. You can change the view page to sort by OrderBy when it first loads.

I see an option for Display Mode, but it only has Sequential and random.
I'm assuming the sequential means by the number assigned to the specific product.
Why can'tit just copy the order set in the admin?

The display mode is for things like featured products. What inner template are you using for your category page?

Newsflash

It doesn't work, this was one of my biggest pet peeves. What you do in the admin will not show up properly on the front end, and to take it a step further, you can rearrange the categories any way you want, it will not show properly in the admin when your people use it to find products.

The blame usually is the multi-Category-grid, however to truly fix the problem, each item must have a numerical identifier that you can control that determines a sort order. The one in the back-end is useless. It's the only way at this time to get what you want. We were going to do this, however, life took a turn and now I'm selling the business so I only have a few months left for retirement.

Judy is correct. With the Multi-Level product grid, it's not possible to use the admin sort across multiple levels of categories. Instead, we use other sorting options and this widget works best with the search filters.

Here are the two category grids and their documented descriptions:

Category Product Grid: Displays only the products within the category being viewed. Uses admin sort order as the default display.

Category Product Grid Multilevel: Displays all products within a category and any of its subcategories. Includes many display and sorting options.

As far as I know, it's always worked this way.

Yes, you would need to do a customization give each product a unique value that can be used to sort by.

Thanks for your support!
