Although it will check out fine using Google Schema Checker, Please look at the picture enclosed in this email. Because the GTIN, UPC, or ISBN was left blank, it did not return the property name and created confusion with one of my Schema checkers. A property name should always be returned even if its value is blank. I have updated the database, so the GTIN field is the same value as the SKU. Schema-org.jpg (120kb) downloaded 5 time(s). |

                Hi Ray,
It may not be that simple. If the GTIN field is blank and Google Schema checker doesn't complain, then it may not be appropriate to use something that is not a valid GTIN.

If we tried to fix this how you are suggesting, I am worried it could cause some confusion.

This might be one of those cases that would be better to document.

It's a lot easier than you think. If there is no value, don't display it in the first place. You are allowed to have a null value, but it must reference a property. The problem with the way you are using the view file is that you're not even displaying the property. That's the heart of the problem. You are allowed to display a property with no value; you just choose to display an empty blank, which is confusing to a few checkers to complain.Take the property "color." Right now, it's displaying a null value, but the property name is being displayed. Why should any other property be different? You need to be consistent. It's really not that complicated. Since we never use this property, I'll probably just remove it from the view file. Edited by user Monday, July 1, 2024 7:05:20 PM(UTC)

Ok, I understand now what you are saying. I'll report the issue. It's trivial and should be easy to fix.
 Thanks for clarifying!

                Hi Katie,
This is to let you know that we've removed this line item from the view file. We don't use this attribute, and populating the field with the SKU was a mistake. Google did not like that at all.

 Thanks for your help.
