The CMS has the option to add images to web pages, this is good. However, the Alt and Title option is missing. This is a basic SEO image requirement that is in all other CMS systems I know of. According to Google’s SEO guidelines, sites should contain the ATL text interpretation for images. In addition, there are ADA legal requirements for the ALT tag on images. About SEO, refer to this page from Google: https://developers.googl...guidelines/google-imagesImage ALT Example: Image HTML - EXISTING CMS <img src="/Assets/ContentImages/pdf417-badge-example.png" width="256" height="191"> Image HTML - from a CMS with Alt and Title <img alt="Employee ID Example in PDF417" src="/Assets/ContentImages/pdf417-badge-example.png" width="256" height="191" title="Employee ID Example in PDF417"> We would like the ability in the CMS to easily add ALT and Title tags to images, within the CMS. Currently we have to manually edit the HTML code and that is extremely frustrating.

We just upgraded to the latest version 9.0.7.7369 and this option for Alt and Title on images in the CMS is still not there. This is frustrating because this means that pages will be ranked lower than others that include the Alt and Title on images - this is according to Google. PLEASE consider this for the next update!

This is a standard function for any web platform today.
Been asking for this for 3-years now.
Is there a reason that this has not been implemented between 9.0.2 and 9.0.7?

Hello,
Can you be specific about this request for Alt text and CMS? Is it when you insert an image using the WYSIWYG editor?

Hello Katie,
Yes using WYSIWYG when inserting a image.
You can test by creating a new content page, Insert and image and you will see that there is no alt tag field in the pop up box and there is no way to add a pic from the websites images directory. Your only choice for images insert is from your local directory.
If a person does not know basic HTML working in the CMS or Admin side this could be frustrating.
Hope this helps.

Is there any timeframe for when this can be implemented? Hopefully in the next release? The capability used to be there and it was lost after upgrading about 4 years ago. I keep asking about it but I get ignored. In the meantime, everyone that uses AbleCommerce will suffer losses in organic SEO, unless they go into the HTML directly and add the tags for each image. BTW, this capability is in all other eCommerce systems.
