I placed a test order and it showed up as new order in the count of new orders, but the total was still 0. The shipments showed 0 until I marked the shipment as shipped and after that, the sales today total changed.I placed another order and it didn't show up in the Sales Today total until I paid it. Is this by design- including orders that are either paid or shipped?

Hi Judy,

Please look at the order status configuration page for related settings:
/Admin/Store/OrderStatuses

Under the "Reports" column you can see that "Shipment Pending" and "Completed" orders will be shown for reports. When an order is Shipped, its order status change to "Completed", and for an order which is still not shipped but payments are paid then the status is updated to "Shipment Pending". So, both of these orders qualify for a sales report.

you can also confirm this behavior by visiting the daily sales report. The Dashboard sales are consistent with that.
