We really, really need a way to trigger the upgrade on an existing site. Often a dev project takes weeks, even months. During that time we need to refresh the local dev database from a live copy.
I can't make this 9.0.4 install fire the install page. I copied database_default.config and encryption_default.config but that didn't work. Did I miss a file??

After replacing the files, try restarting the website.

Joe, we had a site go live that was in development for months and it took 2 of us a whole day each to re-do all the entries for the design changes that were made- outer & inner templates, parameters, etc. She tried doing it with sql queries for the new cms tables- copying from the dev to the staging and it didn't work. I think next time we are just going to re-import orders and products and users. So be aware you might run into a problem. We did it a few days before launch and I'm glad we didn't wait until launch. I think on this next site we're going to remove some of the CMS stuff from code and set the pages up as you would normal MVC pages- calling partial views, etc, instead of zones and that stuff.

Ugh. That wasn't what I wanted to hear Judy.
The entire CMS design makes upgrading a site a complete nightmare.
@Mazhar, I did bounce IIS but it didn't help. Maybe I didn't do at the right time. Am I correct though, those are the only two files I need to 'reset' to trigger the install page again?

Ok thanks. I'll try it again soon and I will try to remember to bounce the app pool before I light up the site again.
