Wondering if anyone is using git for source control, and if so, what your .gitignore looks like for AbleCommerce 9?

We want to do a better job of tracking code changes with AC9 than we did with AC7. First thing we did after unpacking AC 9.0.3 was commit it to a repository. After building and going through the web install process, tons of files were added, modified, or deleted. We don't want to make the same mistake as SolarWinds and accidentally commit sensitive information to the repository, nor do we want to commit anything like caches or dynamic reports that are continuously updated. Does anyone have a .gitignore setup that they feel works well with AC9?

You can see the sample plugins project gitignore as a reference.

Thank you mazhar. Will give it a spin. What about App_Data files that contain sensitive information like the connection string? Also, right after the first build it seems to put a bunch of files into the /Website/Plugins/ directory. Would you recommend tracking those?

You would want to ignore database.config, encryption.config, InstalledPlugins.xml, CommerceBuilder.lic, /Logs folder. You can also ignore the /Plugins folder or maybe Ignore folder under /Plugins folder. This will allow you to keep the default package zip files under source control.

Thank you, this was very helpful! I'm sure I will have to keep tinkering as progress with the understanding the system and adding our modifications, but this is a great start.
